Our Elite Athletes Policy sets out the principles and procedures for the management of applications for admissions to the University of Edinburgh from elite athletes. We recognise the unique circumstances of performance athletes who plan to take up undergraduate study, and understand the dedication and commitment required to excel in both academic and athletic pursuits. We operate a specific policy to support students who are competing in their sport at the highest level, and who wish to apply to the University of Edinburgh. The policy applies to all undergraduate applicants, regardless of their fee status and is intended to facilitate the admission process for individuals who have achieved excellence in sports, as demonstrated by representing their country at either the senior or junior international level. Applications from performance athletes which meet the minimum entry requirements for the relevant degree are given credit in selection in the form of additional points, to increase the likelihood of an offer being made. Eligible applicants can also sometimes defer their enrolment for a year for sport-related reasons. Applicants must be identified by our Performance Sport team in order to be considered under the policy, so if you think this may apply to you, please complete our enquiry form to get in touch with us directly Enquiry form Read the full Elite Athlete Policy This article was published on 2024-05-13
