Endurance Running Academy

The University of Edinburgh’s Endurance Running Academy was set up in partnership with Scottish Athletics with the primary intention to provide a performance development programme for Scottish athletes competing in cross country, road running, mountain running and track.

Athletes on this programme will be supported with coaching and access to support services (such as physical preparation). 

Athletes selected for the Endurance Running Academy are expected to represent the university at BUCS events and aspire to represent GB at their endurance discipline.

2025/2026 Applications

Consideration Criteria / Standards for 2025-26 Season

To be considered for selection it is expected that athletes meet at least one of the following criteria (please note that these are consideration standards and achieving them does not guarantee selection onto the programme):

Represented Great Britain at Cross Country, Road Running, or Mountain Running in the past season (September 2024 – December 2025)

Represented scottishathletics at Cross Country, Road Running, Mountain Running or Track in the past season (September 2025 – December 2025)

Please note that these are consideration standards / criteria and achieving them does not guarantee selection onto the programme.

Note: Non-Scottish athletes may also be considered for inclusion in the Endurance Running Academy where the athlete is deemed to be on a performance trajectory that is tracking towards achievement of the Global Endurance Programme consideration standards. Applications under these circumstances will be assessed on an individual basis and be subject to capacity.
