Global Endurance Project

The University of Edinburgh’s Global Endurance Project was set up in partnership with Scottish Athletics to provide a performance development programme for athletes competing in middle & long distance track, cross country, road, and mountain running.

Athletes on the programme will be supported with coaching and access to support services (such as physical preparation, physiotherapy, performance psychology, performance nutrition, and performance lifestyle support), and access to sports scholarships. Athletes selected for the Endurance Running Academy are expected to represent the university at BUCS.

25/26 Applications

Information regarding the 2025-26 Global Endurance Project application period will be released in due course. We encourage all current and prospective Edinburgh University students to monitor this page for official announcements.

Consideration Criteria / Standards for 2025-26 Season

To be considered for selection it is expected that athletes meet at least one of the following criteria (please note that these are consideration standards and achieving them does not guarantee selection onto the programme):

  • Represented Great Britain at track, cross country, road, or mountain running in 2024 season
  • Achieved the following times in 2023/24 season:
