Chris Hoy graduated in 1999 with a BSc in Applied Sports Science.

Chris is Scotland’s most successful Olympian, and the first Briton in 100 years to win three Olympic gold medals at a single Games. He is now the most successful male Olympic cyclist of all time.

Chris’ stunning list of achievements reflect a unique combination of talent and dedication. In his sporting career to date, he has won four Olympic gold medals, three in Beijing last year and one in Athens in 2004, an Olympic silver medal in Sydney in 2000, achieved three Olympic records, and has twice been crowned the Commonwealth Games Champion, when he represented Scotland in Manchester and Melbourne. Moreover, he is nine times the World Champion, won 27 World Cup Gold medals, and recorded three world records.

The leading competitor in the development of the GB cycling team which saw it dominate the sport, Chris was awarded an MBE in 2005, received an honorary doctorate from the University in the same year and was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2008.

Chris’ legendary sporting status was recognised in 2008 when he became a Knight of the British Empire.
