Gabriela DeBues-Stafford Joins the Global Endurance Project at the University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh is delighted to welcome world-class middle-distance runner Gabriela DeBues-Stafford to the Global Endurance Project. A multiple-time Canadian record holder, Gabriela has established herself among the world’s elite in events ranging from 1,500m to 5,000m.

Born in Canada, Gabriela first made her mark on the international stage as a junior athlete before progressing to become a dominant force in Canadian distance running. She represented Canada at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games, reaching the 1,500m final in Tokyo 2020. Over her career, she has broken numerous national records, including the indoor and outdoor 1,500m, mile, and 5,000m, cementing her reputation as one of Canada's greatest middle-distance runners.

Now joining Mark Rowland, the new Head of Endurance Running, Gabriela will continue her training in Edinburgh’s high-performance environment, benefiting from world-class facilities and expert support. Her arrival marks an exciting moment for the Global Endurance Project, further strengthening its reputation as a hub for elite endurance athletes.
