University of Edinburgh Appoints World-Renowned Coach to Lead Global Endurance Project

The University of Edinburgh is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Rowland, a globally acclaimed athletics endurance coach, as its new Performance Endurance Head Coach within the ambitious Global Endurance Project.

Mark Rowland, a former Olympic steeplechase medallist, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Having held various national coaching positions in the UK, he was recruited to the prestigious Oregon Track Club Elite in 2012, where he coached numerous Olympic and World Championship finalists and medallists. Most recently, Rowland served as a West Hub Endurance Coach for Athletics Canada, further cementing his reputation as one of the world’s top endurance coaches.

Mark Munro, the University’s Director of Sport & Active Health, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment: 

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Rowland to the University’s Global Endurance Project. Mark is a world-renowned coach and a great person, and this makes a clear statement about our intentions with the project.”

Rowland echoed the excitement, highlighting the University’s ambitions and his eagerness to contribute:
