Susan Jackson (nee Bell)

Rifle shooter Susan Jackson is one of Scotland’s greatest ever competitors in the sport, having won a complete set of Commonwealth Games medals (bronze, silver and gold) and having made more than 50 international appearances.

A multiple Scottish champion and record holder, she won the gold medal at the 2001 Commonwealth Shooting Championships and forged an outstanding record at Commonwealth Games. At the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Games, she won the bronze medal in prone rifle pairs. Four years later, in Manchester, she took the silver medal, and in 2006, in Melbourne, she triumphed by winning the gold medal.

Winner of 52 international caps for Scotland, she also represented Great Britain on several occasions, including at one world championship, three European championships, and three World Cups.

While at University, she was a prominent member of EU Rifle Club, serving as its secretary (1993/94) and captain (1994/95). In 1994/95 she was awarded her Blue, which added to the Blue she had won for skiing the previous year. She also won the Eva Bailey Award for best female sports performer in 1994/95.

Susan now provides support to national sports bodies in a voluntary capacity.
