Three sporting icons from the worlds of diving, judo and rifle shooting have been inducted into the University’s Sports Hall of Fame Edinburgh Alumni Sarah Adlington and Seonaid McIntosh, and current Moray House School of Education and Sport student, Grace Reid, have been honoured for their success at the highest level. History making diver Grace Reid is one of Scotland’s, and Great Britain’s, most decorated divers. A specialist in the 1m and 3m springboard disciplines she is a double Olympian and double Commonwealth Game and European Championship gold medallist. An introduction of the achievements of 2023 Sports Hall of Fame inductee Grace Reid Grace Reid - Hall of Fame Inductee 2023 Judo Star Sarah Adlington is a six time British Champion and two-time Commonwealth Games gold medal winning Judoka. At the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, she became the first ever Scottish Judoka to win 2 Commonwealth Gold Medals An introduction of the achievements of 2023 Sports Hall of Fame inductee Sarah Adlington Sarah Adlington - Hall of Fame Inductee - 2023 Record breaking rifle shooter Seonaid McIntosh is a World and European Champion and Britain’s most successful ever rifle female shooter. Daughter of Sport Hall of Fame Inductees, Shirley (2011) and Donald McIntosh (2016) she is the joint World Record Holder in the 300m Rifle Prone event, and has enjoyed glittering success at European, Commonwealth Championship, Commonwealth Game and World Championship level. Previous inductees include six-time Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, Olympic gold medallist rower Katherine Grainger, and Olympic 400 metre running champion Eric Liddell. Performance Programme Many of Edinburgh’s elite athletes have been supported by the University’s Performance Programme. The Programme provides funding, tailored fitness conditioning and sports medicine care to help them succeed on the world sporting stage. The Programme also offers access to top class competition and training facilities, advice and flexible study options.
