2020 Inductee Graduated In 2009 Degree BEd Physical Education Claire is an inspirational figure both on and off the Netball court. A former first team captain of Edinburgh University Netball Club and Individual Performance Programme athlete, she has forged a glittering playing career at both domestic and international level, earning over 100 senior caps for Scotland. By the time she graduated in 2009, Claire had established herself as a prodigious talent in Scottish Netball and a pivotal member of EU Netball Club. She competed at the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships (U21) in the Cook Islands and was selected for Scottish Universities, British Universities, Scotland U17s, U19s, and U21s, before gaining her first senior Scottish Thistles Cap in 2009. Claire was awarded her University Blue for Netball in 2006-07. During her extensive playing career, Claire has become a stalwart of the Netball Super League, representing Glasgow Wildcats, Team Bath and Strathclyde Sirens. She competed for Scotland at Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, captaining the team in 2018. She has played in two Netball World Cups, collecting her landmark 100th Senior Cap at the World Cup event in Liverpool in 2019. Off the court, Claire has partnered with Netball Scotland to create the government recognised and celebrated ‘Sirens for Success Programme’. This inspirational initiative empowers young girls through educational workshops to enhance their wellbeing. Claire’s legacy as a University, domestic league and international player is epitomised by her technical ability, tactical awareness, athleticism, will to win and leadership skills, on and off the court. She is an exceptional ambassador for her sport where continues to inspire and enrich the landscape of Netball in Scotland.
