New CrossFit Gym launches at Edinburgh University Sport

The University of Edinburgh Sport is welcoming CrossFit to Peffermill Playing Fields with the launch of CrossFit 1583, a gym designed to bring the energizing and inclusive CrossFit experience to both the university community and the wider local area.

CrossFit 1583 will welcome and unite people of all ages, abilities, and goals around a methodology that is accessible and effective for all. CrossFit 1583 aims to foster a vibrant, supportive fitness environment where individuals of all ages, abilities, and fitness goals can come together to train, push their limits, and thrive.  

The core philosophy of CrossFit 1583 is centered on inclusivity. The gym will build strong local communities that drive unparalleled progress and a deep sense of belonging.  Offering a welcoming space for anyone interested in pursuing their fitness journey, regardless of experience or ability.

The programming at CrossFit 1583 will be delivered by Hard Work Pays Off, with expertly developed sessions released every week, covering a new workout every day. The programme commits to delivering CrossFit’s methodology of constantly varied functional movements, executed at a high intensity. 

State-of-the-Art Facilities 

CrossFit 1583 has been carefully designed to provide a purpose-built space for its members. The gym is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment from brands including Eleiko, Rogue, Concept2, and Origin Fitness, with specially designed PLAE flooring to ensure safety and optimal performance. 

The location, at Peffermill Playing Fields, is easily accessible to those living at Pollock Halls student accommodation, as well as to those studying at the nearby Kings Buildings Campus and Bio Quarter Campus, making it a convenient option for the university community.
