The new British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) season kicks off on Wednesday 27 September. A new semester of BUCS sport starts for Edinburgh teams this Wednesday with Ladies Rugby’s 1’s travelling to face Cardiff Met 1’s in the BUCS Women’s National League (15:30 kick off) and Men’s Water polo 2’s welcoming Strathclyde Men’s 1’s to the St Leonard’s Land Pool (match starts at 17:15) This season over 2000 students in 122 teams will compete in over 1000 league fixtures across 21 sports with the aim of continuing the success of previous years. Image The 2022/23 season saw Edinburgh finish in the top 5 of the BUCS league table achieving a record points total. Highlights included a top place finish for the Jui Jitsu Club, Orienteering winning their league by 81 points, Fencing retaining their Championship title for the 5th consecutive season, Men's Hockey securing the BUCS Vase Championship and a second place finish for Ladies Rugby in the Women's National League. Live streaming This season Edinburgh University Sports Union are planning to live stream one BUCS home fixture each week. Coverage will start from Wednesday 4 October with streams of Hockey, Netball, Water Polo, Lacrosse and Fencing scheduled.
