A 4th Dan Black Belt, Sarah was an accomplished Judo player, with a European Junior Championship (2005) silver and two European U23 Championship (2007 and 2008) bronze medals to her name, before she started at Edinburgh. She continued that success, supported by the University Performance Programme, throughout her University Career, graduating in 2018 with a degree in Sport & Recreation Management.

She is a serial champion on both the domestic and international stage. As well as her 6 British Heavyweight division Championship wins in 2007, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2021 she has medalled at European Opens, European Cups and Pan American Opens, has 14 IJF World Tour/Cup/Grand Prix medals and placed 5th at the 2018 World Championships. After narrowly missing out in 2012 and 2016, Sarah secured a place on the GB team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Sarah made her Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow 2014 and secured a magnificent gold medal in the +78kg category. Her performance in Glasgow was one of the many achievements that led her to be crowned Scottish Student Sport Female Athlete of the Year in 2015.

At the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, she became the first ever Scottish Judoka to win 2 Commonwealth Gold Medals by repeating her success from 2014 in the +78kg category.

An unstoppable force at her peak, Sarah demonstrates all the qualities needed to get to, and stay, at the very top level of sporting performance.
