Edinburgh University students, alumni and staff members have been selected to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Charlie Aldridge Mechanical Engineering student, Charlie Aldridge will make his Olympic Debut for Team GB following his first full year competing as a senior athlete. Charlie, who will compete in the Mountain Bike discipline, has excelled at junior level with notable wins including several wins at UCI World Cups securing a gold medal at the 2023 UCI World Championships. Charlie has also had a string of success representing The University of Edinburgh in the 2022 BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) University Road Race finishing in the top 15 and was later selected to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Seonaid McIntosh Seonaid McIntosh, who was inducted into the Edinburgh University Sports Hall of Fame in 2023, has been selected for her 2nd Olympic Games. Seonaid made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 games and is the joint World Record Holder in the 300m Rifle Prone event. She has also enjoyed glittering success at European, Commonwealth Championship, Commonwealth Game and World Championship level. The daughter of Hall of Fame inductees Shirley McIntosh MBE and Donald McIntosh, Seonaid will be joined by her father and coach Donald making up part of the shooting support team. Charlie Aldridge and Seonaid McIntosh are the latest athletes to be selected for the Paris 2024 Olympics bringing the current number of athletes connected to The University of Edinburgh to 13.
