Sarah Robertson named in the GB Women’s Hockey team for Paris 2024

Sarah Robertson, one of Scotland’s most talented and decorated hockey players, has been named to the GB Women’s Hockey team for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Sarah has achieved serial success at club and international level, including medal glory at the Tokyo Olympics.

While studying Law (LLB) at the University of Edinburgh, Sarah was a pivotal member of the university’s Women’s Hockey Club. Known for her strong, tactically savvy, and skilful play as an attacking midfielder, she has an eye for goal. She was awarded the Captain S.T. Garner Prize for the best athletic performance by a first-year student in 2011-12 and received her University Blue in 2013-14.

Since her debut in 2012, Sarah has been a stalwart of the Scotland National team, earning over 200 international caps—116 for Scotland and 84 for GB. She has represented her country with distinction at three Commonwealth Games and played a key role in Scotland’s gold medal-winning performance at the EuroHockey II Championships.

Sarah made her GB Hockey debut in 2015 and has since accumulated over 80 caps. She became a team regular in the run up to the 2020 Tokyo Games and a central figure in enabling GB women to claim Olympic bronze by scoring in their 4-3 medal-winning match over India.

In 2021, Sarah Robertson was inducted into the University of Edinburgh Sport Hall of Fame, and she has continued to perform at the top of her game. Sarah is joined in the squad by associated athlete, Amy Costello who has represented the University side over the years. Amy was a travelling reserve for Tokyo and has represented Scotland in the last two Commonwealth Games.

With just under 40 days until the Olympics begins, we wish Sarah, Amy and the GB Hockey team the best of luck in Paris.
