The University of Edinburgh Comes Alive with Colour for World Mental Health Day

Last week, Friday 10 October 2025, The University of Edinburgh Peffermill campus was transformed into a vibrant celebration of movement, connection, and wellbeing as more than 200 students, staff, and community members took part in The Colour Run 2025.

Organised by Edinburgh Sport, the annual event turned the Wild Peffermill route into a festival of colour, laughter, and energy. Participants walked, jogged, and danced through a series of colour stations, transforming their white T-shirts into bright canvases of blue, pink, yellow, and green.

Far more than a race, The Colour Run was designed as a joyful celebration of physical activity and its positive impact on mental wellbeing, fittingly held on World Mental Health Day. The event encouraged everyone to pause, connect, and move for joy, reminding participants that wellbeing can be boosted through movement and social connection.

In partnership with the Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations Council (EVOC) and local charities including Care4Calais Scotland, Edinburgh Refugee Sponsorship Circle, Chapter House, and Mission of Innocents, Edinburgh Sport was proud to offer 50 free event tickets to members of the local refugee community. This initiative supported integration, connection, and community building across Edinburgh.

The day began with a group photo and a sky filled with colour and ended with one final burst of powder and celebration. Smiles, laughter, and shared moments of joy reflected a community spirit just as bright as the colours that filled the air.

The Colour Run 2025 was made possible thanks to the dedication of staff and volunteers from across the University and the ongoing commitment of Edinburgh Sport to promoting active living and mental health awareness.

Here’s to more colour, movement, and connection in the year ahead!
