Lisa Thomson and the GB Women’s rugby sevens returned to action yesterday following their Quarter Final heartache the night before as they played out the placings matches. First up with a tie against China which was a very tight affair and ended with the Chinese running in an overtime score to edge the match 19-15. This saw Team GB take on Ireland in the 7th / 8th play off match. Having not defeated Ireland in four attempts building up to the Olympics, Team GB took the honours in the opening match of their group matches and their campaign was to end in a similar manner as they ran out 28-12 victors to finish the Olympics in seventh place. Lisa and the team put in some big performances and were unlucky not to be in the medal matches but the squad can be proud of their campaign.
