Melanie Woods

Melanie Woods has built an outstanding career in wheelchair racing, competing in the T54 classification across middle- and long-distance events on the global stage. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, she has represented Great Britain and Scotland at Paralympic Games, World Championships and the Commonwealth Games.

Her career highlights include winning bronze medals in both the 800m and 1500m at the 2025 World Championships, adding to a series of top-eight finishes across multiple World Championship events in 2024. She has also competed in two Paralympic Games, achieving fifth place in the 800m at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and reaching finals in both the 800m and 1500m at Paris 2024.

Melanie has consistently performed at the highest level in major championships, including a fourth-place finish at the Commonwealth Games, demonstrating her resilience, longevity and commitment to excellence within elite para-sport.

Her achievements as an international athlete and role model for sport reflect great credit on both herself and the University of Edinburgh, making Melanie Woods a highly deserving inductee into the University of Edinburgh Sport Hall of Fame.
