Former University of Edinburgh Student, Lisa Thomson, has been selected for the Paris Olympics as part of the Team GB rugby 7’s squad. This will be Lisa’s second appearance at the Olympics having been in the squad at Tokyo 2020. Lisa made her Scotland debut in the 2016 Six Nations and has gone on to make over 50 appearances for her country. Lisa also captained Scotland at the 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Melrose born, Lisa has always had a passion for rugby and was a stand out performer in the 2015 Varsity match victory against St Andrews where she was awarded the Keri Holdsworth Player of the Match. Lisa is the eighth athlete connected to the University to be selected for Paris. We wish Lisa, and the rest of the squad, the very best of luck in Paris. This article was published on 2024-06-20
